Sustainability

OMA POLİMER A.Ş. is committed to including social and environmental sustainability in every production process.

For a better world, OMA POLİMER A.Ş. is committed to including social and environmental sustainability in every production process.

Sustainability means keeping production and diversity going while keeping human life viable. It means meeting our needs without taking away the needs of future generations.

For us sustainability is not a slogan. It means using resources efficiently and developing the product accordingly. Solar energy, recycled yarn and dyeing that uses less water are concrete parts of this approach.

Why sustainability matters

The energy demand that grew with the industrial revolution led to heavy use of non-renewable sources such as oil and coal. Fast industrialisation and urbanisation increased air, water and soil pollution, and deepened loss of biodiversity, soil loss and desertification.

Every living thing is part of an ecosystem in exchange with other living and non-living things. If one part is damaged, the effect shows up elsewhere. We have to act without outrunning nature’s ability to recover, and without breaking that balance.

Use resources wisely

We treat efficiency as the rule in production, knowing that environmental resources can run out. The integrity and resilience of ecosystems are protected.

Economic growth and environmental balance

We aim for economic growth that raises welfare without harming the environment. As output of goods and services rises, human welfare rises with it.

Company interest and public interest together

Social and environmental issues are part of how we manage, not only economic growth. Company interests do not conflict with public interests.

Solar power system

We add value for the future and take production energy from the sun

We see it as our responsibility not only to produce quality for today’s needs, but also to leave a cleaner world. With that vision we fitted the roofs of our plants with a solar power system (GES).

Behind every production run in the factory there is now the clean energy of the sun.

  • 100% clean-energy target

A large share of the electricity used on our lines comes directly from the high-efficiency solar panels on our roof.

  • A smaller carbon footprint

By relying less on fossil fuels, we aim each year for a carbon saving comparable to the oxygen provided by thousands of trees.

  • Leadership in greener industry

We aim to lead the shift to sustainable energy in our sector and leave a more livable world to the next generations.
